We have covered that golf is not something you can ‘play’. Today we’ll talk about the one exception that rule - virtual golf.

Video games make it possible for all of us to do things we would never consider doing in real life. Whether that’s as extreme as running a red light or as mild as doing a light upgrade in the machine shop, video games are an important outlet for impulses we don’t normally act on.

We’ve been contacted by many, many golfers who want to stop golfing but still need an outlet for their aggression. After careful consideration, we believe we can safely recommend a few virtual options:

We haven’t reviewed every virtual option out there, but most VR options and even a few other ‘golf simulators’ allow for golf clubs to be used to attack other players and bystanders, or allow for golf balls to be deliberately aimed to cause damage to people. The options we’re recommending do not normalize that kind of golf violence, although even these options have ESRB ratings for “Mild Violence”.

We believe these options offer a fair outlet for aggression without depicting the graphic golf violence other video games have.
