#28: Hope On The Horizon: The Golf Generation Is Over.
We’re having a great #AntiGolfCon31 meeting all sorts of new people who are passionate about finally banning golf in America. What strikes us the most us how young they all are. We know it’s important to get good data, so we went to go find out whether younger people are golfing less.
Only 12% of people who golf are younger than 35, according to a Nielsen poll cited by MarketWatch. The NY Post ran an article lamenting the fact that Millennials are ditching golf because “it is too hard and boring”. Even the Washington Post has reported a huge decline in the number of people golfing.
Here’s some of the best news we’ve ever heard:
“Every macro-indicator that we’ve been looking at for the past 20 years – rounds played, number of minorities playing, women coming into the game – all of these things that we tracked says that there’s less people playing,”
Mark King, a former TaylorMade President
Millennials and Gen Z don’t play golf. That’s great news for our movement. Some of our younger supporters have even gone so far as to call themselves the “Anti Golf Boys” - take a look at this T-Shirt:

New trends in golf (like LIV) are the golf lobby’s last desperate attempt to be relevant. And the young people don’t care. They know how violent golf is, and they have seen the toll it takes on the people they love - and we’re showing them how to fight.
We are finally arriving at the end of the era of golf. We can do this.
