#9: The Pro-Golf Presidency

It’s not surprising Trump supporters turn to golf to facilitate their violent attacks. Trump was the most pro-golf President in history.
Despite his campaign assurances that he would be less pro-golf than Barack Obama, Donald Trump golfed at least once every 3 weeks while President.
Trump frequently used golf to demonstrate his masculinity, such as when he claimed he could hit a golf ball 285 yards. He claimed that “when it comes to golf, very few people can beat me.” These statements were clearly intended to show his supporters he was the kind of guy who wasn’t afraid to hit something with a golf club.
Trump followed the typical behavior of most golfers - using golf to make themselves feel powerful. He claimed to have won 18 club championships - a complete falsehood. He was known for angry outbursts on the golf course when things weren’t going his way.
As former golfers, we understand the feeling of power that comes from wielding the clubs. But we’ve seen what that leads to - hate, violence, and toxic masculinity. We resolved to put our clubs down and work to reach #GolfZero.
We are thankful Joe Biden is golfing less than Donald Trump, but it’s not enough to simply golf less. We call on President Biden to stop normalizing this dangerous and violent activity. It’s only a matter of time until someone gets hurt.
Help our movement by contacting President Joe Biden today and asking him to lay down his clubs. Ask him to help us reach #GolfZero.
