#25: Golf Balls? In My Hashbrowns?
It’s more likely than you think.
You may be surprised to find that there are few zoning regulations controlling where golf courses may be built. We’ve covered the impacts of golf in urban and suburban neighborhoods, but golf has negative impacts on rural areas as well.
In 2017, McCain Foods USA had to issue a recall on several of their potato products (mostly hash browns) because they were contaminated with debris from golf balls. This is yet another economic impact of allowing golf in our country.
It’s apparently not enough that golf kills children, displaces whole populations, and poisons our water. Now golf is just one more source of plastics in our food.
There is simply no safe place to build golf courses. Golf fundamentally cannot coexist with our communities or our environment. We have to take action now to keep ourselves safe.
Help us work with your local zoning board to ensure no new golf courses can be built in your town, city, or county. Our grassroots activists are in every state and we want to help you make your community safer by making sure golf is not welcome there.
